Who takes me where?

The Postbus Shuttle Südkärnten stops right at our house (Ferienhaus Huber stop, SK 40085). That is why it comes first here: booked in the app, on demand to the door, on to the Petzen and to Lake Klopein without changing, and your pram travels with you. Book early if you can. GoMobil, the local dial-a-ride taxi within the municipalities of Bleiburg and Feistritz ob Bleiburg, we list as the backup in case nothing is free on the shuttle.

Your bike travels at weekends and seasonally (Fri to Sun, 5 € per bike). GoMobil we list as the backup for the short trips in Bleiburg and Feistritz: tickets are cheaper when bought in advance than on board (in Bleiburg for example at the Eurospar, at Zadruga and the Petzen lifts), or simply ask us ahead of time. By bike without a car

Cycling for every taste

If you arrive by train you don't have to leave your own bike behind: the Postbus Shuttle Südkärnten stops right at our house and takes your bike at weekends and seasonally, Friday to Sunday between 8 and 18h (5 € per bike). That way bike and luggage travel from Bleiburg station to the front door, booked in the app. The same applies on the way back from a tour: you ride to the Petzen or to Lake Klopein and get picked up again with your bike. And if you come without a bike, you can rent one right here. Many cycle paths start practically on the doorstep.

Bike-friendly at the house

  • Rental bikes right at the house
  • Secure, lockable bike storage
  • Free charging station for e-bike batteries
  • Larger selection at the bike shop GS Rad (approx. 3.4 km, 2 min by train)
Cycling on the lakes loop at Lake Klopein

Cycle paths from the doorstep

Lake Klopein lakes loop (6-lakes tour)approx. 54 km · flat · family-friendly, start at Lake Pirkdorf
R1D Jauntal path20 km · runs right past the house, connects to the Drau cycle path
Bleiburg art cycle path23 km · themed loop with the Werner Berg Museum
Petzen Flow Country Trailmountain biking · comfortable uphill by gondola

Our tip: ride out, take the train back

The 6-Lakes Tour does not have to be a closed loop. You ride out to Lake Klopein only, stay for the sunset, and take the S3 back to Bleiburg with your bike. Two routes to choose from, 26 or 40 km, and carrying a bike has two catches worth knowing in advance.

Frequently asked questions about the car-free holiday

Can I arrive without a car?
Yes. By train to Bleiburg (connection to the Koralmbahn), from there about 2.5 km with the ÖBB station shuttle directly to the accommodation, or with the Postbus Shuttle Südkärnten, booked ahead in the app. We are happy to collect you on request. You will find connections and tickets at oebb.at. The station shuttle to us is currently only bookable by phone via the ÖBB service hotline +43 5 171711.
Which shuttle brings me right to the door?
All three. The most convenient is the Postbus Shuttle Südkärnten: it stops right at our house (Ferienhaus Huber stop, SK 40085), is booked in the app and runs on demand as far as Lake Klopein. Booking early is best. Alongside it, GoMobil serves as the local backup and the ÖBB Transfer Kärnten runs from Bleiburg station.
Where exactly is the nearest Postbus stop?
Right at Ferienhaus Huber, the stop carries our name. The Postbus Shuttle Südkärnten stops at the Ferienhaus Huber stop (SK 40085), comfortably right at the door. In the app you simply search for Ferienhaus Huber and pick the stop as your start or destination. You can find us on Google Maps or Apple Maps.
Are the roads safe to walk on?
Yes. There is no through traffic at Ferienhaus Huber: from the house a gravel track used only by our guests leads down the hill (a drop of about 100 m). From there, very quiet side roads take you to the B81, which carries moderate traffic but has its own foot and cycle path into Bleiburg. Even nicer is the forest path just north of the house: it leads directly to Bleiburg Stadt station in about 40 minutes (about 2.7 km, 150 m of ascent). In Bleiburg itself you can walk safely on dedicated foot and cycle paths.
How do I get to the Petzen or the lakes without a car?
Most easily with the Postbus Shuttle Südkärnten: it stops right at our house and runs on demand to the Petzen valley station, to the Pirkdorfer See and, without changing, all the way to Lake Klopein. Booking is via the app for iOS or Android, at least 1 hour ahead and up to 30 days in advance, ideally early. Prams travel with you, your bike at weekends and seasonally (Fri to Sun). If nothing is free on the shuttle, GoMobil takes you to the valley station and the Pirkdorfer See as a backup, a call at least 1 hour before your desired departure on +43 664 603 603 9150 is enough.
How do I get to Lake Klopein without a car?
Without changing: the Postbus Shuttle Südkärnten runs on demand from the stop at our house to the lake. Booking is via the app for iOS or Android, at least 1 hour ahead and up to 30 days in advance, ideally early. You can take the train to Kühnsdorf-Klopeinersee, free with the Aktiv Card on the S-Bahn and REX (carrying your bike on the train costs extra, from approx. 2 € per bike). From May to September, the See-Shuttle Klopeiner See / Turnersee (Postbus cycling and hiking bus) takes you daily from Kühnsdorf station to the beaches at both lakes. You can see the exact departure times in the SCOTTY timetable when you enter, for example, Camping Nord as your destination.
Can I bring my bike without a car?
Yes, at weekends and seasonally. The Postbus Shuttle Südkärnten transports your bike on demand from Friday to Sunday (8 to 18h, 5 € per bike), booked together with the trip, and stops right at our house. A pram it carries all year round. At the house there are also rental bikes, lockable bike storage and a free charging station for e-bike batteries. If you arrive by train, you can bring your bike along. From Bleiburg station it's only about 2.5 km to Ferienhaus Huber, easily done by bike or e-bike (about 2.5 km, 120 m of ascent, approx. 15 minutes).
Where do I buy tickets for GoMobil?
We list GoMobil only as the backup for when nothing is free on the Postbus Shuttle. You can buy tickets directly from the driver. Advance-sale tickets are around 1 € cheaper and available locally, for example at the Eurospar in Bleiburg, at Zadruga or at the Petzen lifts. On request, you can also ask us about tickets in advance.
How much does a shuttle ride cost?
The Postbus Shuttle Südkärnten costs around 5 € for trips to Bleiburg or the Petzen, with a bike 5 € extra. With GoMobil a ride costs, at the regular fare from the driver, around 10 € (2 GOs). Bought in advance, each GO is around 1 € cheaper. Trips to and from member businesses (such as the Petzen lifts) are 50 % cheaper (1 GO). You will find the exact prices on each operator's website.
Are there special buses for events?
Yes. For larger events there are often dedicated special buses, for example at See in Flammen at Lake Klopein or at the Bleiburg Wiesenmarkt. You'll find details on the respective event page or in the Südkärnten tourism portal.
Where do I find all bus and train connections?
In the ÖBB SCOTTY timetable you find all public connections by bus and train in the region. Simply enter your accommodation or excursion destination, such as a stop, a beach or a sight, and you get all times and transfers.
Where do I find more information about public transport?
The Südkärnten tourism portal offers an overview of all mobility options in Südkärnten, reachable by phone at +43 4239 2222.
