Frequently asked questions

Ferienhaus Huber

Answers to the questions our guests ask most often before booking.

What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is possible from 2:00 pm (later in the evening on request), check-out between 7:00 and 10:00 am. As we welcome you in person, we're happy to agree your exact arrival time with you beforehand.
How can I pay?
You can pay conveniently by bank transfer or in cash on site. We do not offer card payment.
Is there a minimum stay?
Yes, the minimum stay is 3 nights. Just send us a no-obligation enquiry.
Is a cot and a high chair available?
Yes, a travel cot and a high chair are available on request. Best let us know what you need when you enquire, so we have everything ready for you.
How far is the nearest house?
Our holiday home stands on its own on a rise; the nearest house is roughly a kilometre away. The driveway is a private road with no through-traffic, hardly a car comes by.
Is the nature pond fenced and safe for children?
Yes. The nature pond is fenced and separated from the rest of the grounds so children can't run in unsupervised. It remains a natural body of water: please supervise children at the nature pond at all times.
Are dogs allowed?
Yes, dogs are very welcome. On the grounds dogs must be on a lead or wear a muzzle; on our dog meadow your dog may run free under your supervision. That keeps it safe and relaxed for our ponies, cats and all guests.
What's nearby?
Plenty, in every season. In summer the Pirkdorfer See (just minutes away) and Lake Klopein, the warmest bathing lake in Europe, invite you for a swim. On our local mountain Petzen the Flow Country Trail, one of Europe's longest flow trails, awaits mountain bikers, alongside hikes with views across three countries. There's also the art cycle path around Bleiburg, the museum walk from Bleiburg to Neuhaus (Werner Berg Museum and Museum Liaunig), plus the Griffen dripstone cave and the Obir dripstone caves, ideal even when it rains. In winter the family-friendly Petzen ski area is practically on the doorstep. Klagenfurt and Lake Wörthersee are about a 45-minute drive away, and the new Koralmbahn railway gets you comfortably and car-free all the way to Graz. We present all our excursion destinations and cycling routes in detail on their own pages; many more tips are listed for Lake Klopein / Southern Carinthia region.
Is the location suitable for a car-free holiday?
Most guests arrive by car, but you don't need one for excursions. The Postbus Shuttle Südkärnten stops right at our house (Ferienhaus Huber stop) and, booked in the app, takes you to the beaches at Lake Klopein, to the Petzen and to many other excursion destinations, with your pram and, at weekends and seasonally, with your bike too. From Bleiburg station (about 2.5 km, with a connection to the new Koralmbahn railway) the ÖBB Transfer Kärnten brings you to the accommodation, and locally GoMobil stands by as a backup. All the details, from train connections to the baker who comes to the house each morning, on our Car-free holiday page.
How do I transport my bike without a car?
The Postbus Shuttle Südkärnten stops right at our house and takes your bike on demand, Friday to Sunday and seasonally (8 to 18h, 5 € per bike), booked together with the trip. At the house there are also rental bikes, lockable bike storage and a free charging station for e-bike batteries. Everything about it on our Car-free holiday page.
What do I get free or discounted with the Aktiv Card guest card?
The Aktiv Card, the region's guest card, is free from us from the first overnight stay, conveniently in digital form on your smartphone. Free of charge: unlimited rides on ÖBB local trains across Carinthia, plus over 30 activity programmes and guided cycling and hiking tours. Discounted: the Walderlebniswelt and more than 10 further partners with mostly 20% off. All benefits in detail on our Aktiv Card South Carinthia page.
What's there for children to do?
A private nature pond, ponies, sheep, cats, a large playground, trampoline, go-kart, mini-golf, table tennis and billiards. For rainy days there's a dedicated playroom. Please supervise children at the nature pond and during pony riding at all times.
